About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our client based in Christchurch. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in optimising production systems, supporting workshop staff, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded manufacturing or production professional who enjoys problem-solving, process improvement, and working closely with workshop teams to achieve operational excellence. Duties will include:

- Reviewing and improving production processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste
n
- Providing technical guidance and support to fabrication and production teams
n
- Developing and maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
n
- Supporting the implementation of current equipment and technology
n
- Assisting with production planning and scheduling activities
n
- Monitoring production performance, productivity, and workflow efficiency
n
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
n
- Supporting quality assurance processes and ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards
n
- Investigating process issues and implementing corrective actions
n
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture throughout the business
n
- Assisting with training, mentoring, and technical development of workshop staff
n

Key Requirements & Responsibilities

n

n
- Previous experience in a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar role
n
- Trade qualification, engineering qualification, or relevant manufacturing background
n
- Possess a strong understanding of production planning, workflow optimisation, and manufacturing processes
n
- Experience driving continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
n
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
n
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and manufacturing standards
n
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe work practices
n
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesExperience mentoring, supporting, or providing technical guidance to workshop teams
n
- Professional, proactive, and committed to achieving high-quality outcomes
n
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and have no serious criminal convictions
n
