Located 23km east of the township of Armidale, NSW, Hillgrove provides an opportunity to work and reside within a vibrant regional community in the New England region of NSW.

About the Role: The Utilities (Grounds / Maintenance) role is a hands‑on, multi‑skilled position responsible for maintaining the presentation, functionality and operational readiness of facilities at Echidna Gully Village.

Reporting to the Village Coordinator, this role plays a key part in ensuring accommodation, communal facilities, grounds and supporting infrastructure are maintained to a safe, clean and high standard for residents, visitors and staff. The successful candidate will undertake a combination of preventative and reactive maintenance activities, groundskeeping, general repairs, fault finding and village support duties.

Working across a diverse range of tasks, you will take ownership of routine inspections, maintenance scheduling, inventory control and housekeeping standards, while proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact village operations. The role also supports village property and land management activities, including the inspection and upkeep of fencing, gates and associated infrastructure. Where specialised repairs are required, you will coordinate and liaise with contractors and trade‑qualified personnel to ensure timely resolution.

This role is on a

12 month Fixed Term Contract .

Roster –

5 days on / 2 days off (Mon - Fri), 4 days on / 3 days off (Mon - Thu) . Day shifts.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs

Maintain grounds, pathways, and outdoor areas

Manage waste collection and disposal

Assist with room setups, moves, and site prep

Support contractors and trades

Assist with housekeeping or kitchen tasks during peak periods

Conduct basic inspections and report issues

About You

Experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, or general labour roles preferred

Practical problem‑solving skills

Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks

Basic fault‑finding and troubleshooting capability, with sound judgement on when to escape to a qualified trade.

Ability to plan and manage preventative and reactive maintenance activities.

Sound inventory, storage and housekeeping practices.

Practical and hands‑on approach

Strong safety awareness

Reliability and accountability

Requirements

Current Australian Driver's License (mandatory)

Must be able to provide a National Police Clearance obtained within the last six months

Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and comply with ongoing testing during employment.
