Rare prospect to work on a high-impact SAP S/4HANA transformation program supporting one of Australia's most critical government service delivery agencies. Multiple Senior Infrastructure Engineer (SAP Basis) roles available across Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide.

THE ROLE

n

Our client, a large federal government agency delivering essential services to millions of Australians, is seeking a Senior SAP Basis Engineers (EL1 equivalent) to join their team on an initial 12-month labour hire contract with potential extension. These hybrid roles are available across ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, and SA, with work-from-home arrangements considered for candidates who reside within reasonable distance of a capital city office. A Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance is required — or the ability to obtain one. Start date is 1 December 2026.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

n

n
- Providing senior SAP Basis administration and engineering services across a large, complex SAP landscape
n
- Performing system installations, upgrades, patching, transport management and lifecycle management activities
n
- Monitoring, analysing and optimising SAP system performance, availability and reliability
n
- Designing and implementing high availability, backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
n
- Supporting the agency's SAP S/4HANA transition, including migration planning, system conversions, data migration and operational readiness
n




- Conducting technical assessments and proof-of-concept activities for SAP modernisation initiatives
n
- Collaborating with architects, security specialists, project teams and APS staff to deliver platform outcomes
n
- Mentoring APS employees and facilitating knowledge transfer to build internal SAP capability
n
- Developing technical documentation, operating procedures and support models
n
- Participating in on-call rosters and scheduled release shift work as required
n

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

n

n
- Demonstrated senior experience as an SAP Basis Administrator or SAP Technical Engineer in large, complex environments
n
- Current SAP certification in SAP Basis Administration, SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA or equivalent technology disciplines
n
- Proven experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, migrations or technical conversions
n
- Hands-on experience with database migration and transition to SAP HANA platforms
n
- Strong knowledge of SAP transport management, performance tuning, system monitoring and troubleshooting
n
- Experience with Linux and enterprise infrastructure environments supporting SAP
n
- Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders at a senior level

NICE TO HAVE

- Previous experience supporting SAP environments within Australian Government agencies
n
- Experience designing SAP high availability and disaster recovery solutions
n
- Knowledge of cloud-hosted or hybrid SAP architectures
n
- Involvement in large-scale ERP transformation or platform consolidation programs
