Multiskilled Yard Hand/Maintenance Manager

Saunders Transport Australia is seeking a Multiskilled Yard Hand/Maintenance Manager to join our team in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency and safety standards of our transport yard facilities. The successful candidate will oversee general maintenance activities, equipment upkeep, and yard operations, ensuring our fleet and facilities remain in optimal working condition. This role is essential to supporting our transport operations and maintaining the high standards our customers expect from Saunders Transport Australia.

Key responsibilities

n

Perform general yard maintenance and facilitate repairs on heavy vehicles

n

Conduct routine inspections of fleet vehicles and identify maintenance requirements

n

Manage maintenance schedules and coordinate with service providers as needed

n

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment servicing

n

Ensure yard cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with safety standards

n

Operate and maintain yard equipment, including lifting and handling machinery

n

Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies and spare parts

n

Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and breakdowns to minimise downtime

n

Support team members and provide guidance on maintenance procedures and safety protocols

n

Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations

n

What we're looking for

Basic mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving abilities

n

Basic computer skills

n

Can do attitude with hand on approach





n

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic workshop equipment

n

Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills

n

Current driver's license (at minimum, Heavy vehicle)

n

Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to transport and maintenance operations

n

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

n

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

n

Physical capability to perform manual tasks and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

n

Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training
