About the role

The Energy Assets Data & AI team are responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of Energy Asset’s operational data, information management, AI and data governance. The role shapes and contributes to Energy Asset’s technology vision, digital strategy, and information governance framework to enable a centralised federated data model. The team are responsible for ensuring that internal and external data brought into AGL conforms to a standard naming convention and is integrated into an ‘data-fabric’ for secure and federated use. The team is responsible for providing guidance to assets operations on industry practice for data generation, tagging, storage and consumption as well as responsible for its integration with AGL’s enterprise data platforms, storage and cloud functions.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Lead the planning, acquisition, storing, organising, destroying and archiving of all generation asset data, as it aligns and integrates with all of Energy Asset’s and AGL enterprise data.
- Delivery and governance of the Energy Assets data & AI strategy and the maintenance of asset data in alignment with AGL IT data and governance standards, including: implementing of strategies for data storage, archival,



destruction and retrieval; execute data integration and migration projects; create and document data processes and data-related guidelines.
- Establish broad networks to drive informed, comprehensive and effective organisational/domain improvements in data management and support data across the data lifecycle.
- Influence, shape and comply with regulations, policies and guidelines that are integral to good data management practices.
- Collaborate with other data & AI professionals, AGL Enterprise Data & AI Governance leaders, other business stakeholders, and IT specialists to drive system and process changes that enable the organisation to realise strategic goals or deliver significant operational outcomes.
- Lead enterprise wide analysis and review of technology, systems and processes to achieve strategic priorities in data management.
- Coach and train other data managers, data producers and consumers, and contribute at whole of business level to developing Data & AI Management capability.
- Optimise processes, facilitate consistency across business areas, champion data quality and resolve complex data issues.
- Ensure reliable data is accessible and aligns with established guidelines and can be used in scalable and repeatable processes.
- Increase the visibility and interrogability of an Energy Asset’s operational data assets, optimise the use of data & AI within the bounds of AGL’s enterprise data policy and standard.
- Coordinate with all site and Asset Services Master Data stewards to ensure total data management is aligned with local sub-system data management such as SAP, etc.
- Effective delivery and communication for all change notifications, upgrades and fault rectification within Integrated Energy Operations’ data ecosystem.

What You’ll Bring

- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, data & AI management, data science or equivalent.
- 10 years’ experience in an operations environment (eg power generation, oil and gas, mining) preferred, with a demonstrated ability in data management, governance and leadership desirable.
