About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Penquite Campus - Middle to join Scotch Oakburn College in Launceston on a full time basis. This is a strategic leadership position with significant responsibility for overseeing the educational direction, pastoral care and operational management of our Middle School (Years 6-8). Reporting directly to the Principal, the Head of Penquite Campus - Middle will work collaboratively with the College Executive Team and other Leadership Teams such as the Penquite Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning outcomes, whilst fostering a supportive and engaging school environment. This role is pivotal in shaping the educational experience of our Year 6-8 students and contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the college.

What you'll be doing

- Providing strategic educational leadership to develop and implement innovative curriculum initiatives and teaching practices that enhance student learning outcomes
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Middle School, including timetabling, scheduling and resource allocation
- Recruiting, mentoring,



coaching and supporting teaching and support staff to ensure high standards of professional practice and ongoing development
- Fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student wellbeing, engagement and personal growth
- Implementing effective pastoral care systems and programs that support the social, emotional and academic development of all students
- Collaborating with senior leadership to develop and monitor whole-school policies and procedures relevant to the Middle School
- Conducting regular performance reviews and observations of teaching staff to maintain educational excellence
- Communicating effectively with parents and carers about their child's progress, wellbeing and school activities
- Maintaining compliance with educational standards, curriculum requirements and school policies
- Managing the Middle School budget and ensuring cost-effective use of resources
- Organising and leading Middle School events, excursions and co-curricular activities that enrich student experiences
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with staff, students, parents and community members

What we're looking for

- A tertiary qualification in Education or equivalent educational leadership qualification, or substantial proven experience in educational management
- Experience in a senior leadership or middle management position within a school environment




- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and the implementation of creative teaching and learning practices
- Strong people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse stakeholders including staff, students, parents and the community
- Proven experience in pastoral care systems, student wellbeing and creating inclusive school environments
- Sound financial management and budgeting skills
- Knowledge of current educational policies, curriculum frameworks and best practices in school management
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to drive continuous improvement
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends and research
- Preferably, experience working within an independent school setting
- A genuine passion for education and a commitment to student-centred learning
