We are a new ophthalmology (eye surgery) clinic in Strathfield providing medical care to a culturally diverse patient base. We are conveniently located across the road from Strathfield station.
About the Role
As our Medical Receptionist, you are the first point of contact and play a key role in shaping the patient’s journey. You will build lasting relationships with our patients and referring practitioners (GPs and Optometrists) while ensuring daily clinic operations run smoothly.
A second language is preferred as we are a multilingual practice serving a diverse community.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Front Desk: Welcome patients with a warm and caring approach, answer phone calls, manage email correspondence, and maintain a tidy, professional front desk environment.
- Triage & Appointments: Triage appointment inquiries, manage patient recall systems, and coordinate bookings for both clinic consultations and surgical procedures.
- Referral & Surgical Administration: Process incoming referrals from GPs and Optometrists, prepare surgical paperwork, and dispatch daily medical correspondence to specialists and hospitals.
- Billing & Claims: Handle patient billings, health fund claims, and Medicare processing via our cloud-based system (Xestro).
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience as a Medical Receptionist in an Ophthalmic or Optometry setting is highly preferred (general medical administrative experience will also be considered).
- Software: Experience with Xestro or cloud-based medical software is preferred; however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Languages: Multilingual preferred is preferred, but not essential
- Communication: Excellent phone manner and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate politely and professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
- Detail-Oriented & Tech-Savvy: Strong computer literacy, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks independently in a fast-paced workplace.
