The Opportunity

n

The Technical Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing and procuring technically specified components, materials, and services to support our engineering and manufacturing operations.

n

This is not a transactional procurement role. You'll need to be comfortable working with engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications and confident enough to ask questions, challenge designs, and engage suppliers at a technical level to ensure the right outcomes.

n

Working closely across design, engineering, quality, and production, you'll play a key role in ensuring components are delivered on time, to specification, and at the right cost.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

Technical Sourcing & Procurement

n

n
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications to accurately source materials and components
n
- Source and procure components aligned to project requirements and production schedules
n
- Ensure purchased items meet quality standards and delivery commitments
n
- Lead RFQs/RFPs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers
n
- Challenge where needed, question specifications, identify risks, and propose alternative solutions
n
- Identify opportunities for improved suppliers, equipment, or processes and support business case development
n
- Manage and support purchasing administrative activities
n

Supplier Management

n

n
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, particularly for precision-engineered and technically complex components
n
- Act as a technical point of contact, resolving queries, non-conformances, and deviations
n




- Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, and cost, driving improvement where required
n

n

Cross-Functional Collaboration

n

n
- Work closely with design, engineering, quality, warehouse, and project teams to align procurement activities
n
- Provide visibility on order status, risks, and delivery timelines
n
- Contribute to design and cost reviews, ensuring procurement is both technically sound and commercially effective
n
- Support customer-facing activities when required
n

n

Compliance & Systems

n

- Maintain accurate purchasing data within ERP and project management systems
n
- Ensure documentation is complete (e.g. certifications, inspection reports, conformance records)
n
- Support audit and traceability requirements
n

n

Continuous Improvement & Cost Management

n

n
- Contribute to process improvements and supply chain optimisation initiatives
n
- Support cost reduction, make-vs-buy decisions, and risk mitigation strategies
n
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and lead times to proactively manage supply risk
n

n

Your Skills & Experience

n

n
- Strong technical mindset, able to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings and specifications
n
- Curious and confident, comfortable asking questions and challenging suppliers, designs, and assumptions
n
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or engineering within a technical or manufacturing environment
n
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
n
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional communication skills
n
- Commercial awareness with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery
n
