About Us
n
Social Dining is part of Verandah Precinct, one of Sydney CBD's most distinctive dining destinations. Set within the heart of the city on Elizabeth Street, Social Dining brings a modern Australian sensibility to the table — seasonal menus, house-made pastas, premium butcher's cuts and fresh seafood, all paired with a thoughtfully curated wine and cocktail list.
n
Verandah Precinct is one of the flagship venues within the Tilley & Wills Hospitality Group, an independent hospitality operator with a long-standing presence across Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide — encompassing corporate bars, community pubs, entertainment venues and fine dining establishments.
n
The Role
n
We're looking for a talented Chef to join the Social Dining kitchen. This is a genuinely rare opportunity in hospitality: our venue trades Monday to Friday, lunch only, and is closed on weekends — meaning your weekends are your own!
n
You'll be part of a close-knit team delivering a high-volume, high-quality lunch service to Sydney's CBD crowd, with the consistency and pride that comes from a well‐run, seasonally driven kitchen.
n
What you'll be doing
n
n
- Preparing and executing seasonal menu items to a consistently high standard during lunch service
n
- Working with premium, fresh produce — including house-made pastas, quality cuts and seafood
n
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and kitchen presentation standards
n
- Supporting stock control, ordering and minimising wastage
n
- Working collaboratively with the broader kitchen and floor team to deliver a seamless guest experience
n
- Bringing ideas and energy to seasonal menu development
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
- Proven experience in a similar CBD restaurant, hotel or high-volume kitchen setting
n
- Solid knife skills and a strong grounding in modern Australian or European cooking styles
n
- A team player with a positive, can-do attitude under pressure
n
- Genuine care for food quality, consistency and presentation
n
- Current food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
n
- Right to work in Australia
n
- Work-life balance is hard to find in hospitality — Monday to Friday, lunch trade only, weekends off
n
- Be part of a well-established, respected precinct in the heart of the Sydney CBD
n
- Backed by the resources and career pathways of the Tilley & Wills Hospitality Group
n
- Supportive, experienced kitchen leadership
n
- Competitive salary, reflective of experience
