Senior Planner

n

About the Role

n

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Planner to join a strategic planning team responsible for reviewing and assessing planning initiatives that impact a large and diverse property portfolio across New South Wales.

n

This role sits within a small, collaborative team and focuses on strategic planning activities, including planning proposals, rezonings, policy review, and site-specific planning due diligence. The successful candidate will provide expert planning advice and assess the impact of planning reforms, policies, and development opportunities on land and property assets.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Review and assess planning proposals, rezonings, and strategic planning initiatives.
n
- Provide planning advice on proposals led by government agencies, local councils, and internal stakeholders.
n
- Review State and Local Government planning policies and assess their potential impacts on future development opportunities.
n
- Undertake site-specific planning due diligence and feasibility assessments relating to planning controls and development potential.
n
- Analyse planning legislation, environmental planning instruments, and policy frameworks.
n
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and strategic planning advice for stakeholders.
n




- Contribute to special projects and strategic planning initiatives as required.
n
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to support planning outcomes.
n

Essential Skills & Experience

n

n
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Law, or a related discipline.
n
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, including:n n
- Planning proposals
n
- Rezonings
n
- Strategic land use planning
n
- Planning policy development and review
n

n
- Strong understanding of NSW planning legislation and planning frameworks.
n
- Experience assessing the impact of planning controls and policies on development outcomes.
n
- Strong analytical, research, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
n

Highly Regarded

n

n
- Experience in development assessment (DA) functions.
n
- Exposure to government or private sector planning environments.
n
- Experience undertaking planning due diligence for complex land or property portfolios.
n
- Architectural or related built-environment background complemented by planning experience.
n

Candidate Profile

n

The ideal candidate will have approximately 3-4+ years' experience in strategic planning and policy-related work, with a strong background in planning proposals and rezoning activities. Candidates with a combination of strategic planning and development assessment experience are encouraged to apply.

- Current White Card.
n
- Current Driver's Licence.

- Ability to provide two recent professional references.
n
- Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including a Fit2Work check and confidentiality documentation.
