Northern Suburbs | Full Time |

Build Relationships. Grow Accounts. Drive Sales.

Are you someone who genuinely enjoys dealing with people, building relationships and finding opportunities to grow a customer account?

Do you have a natural sales instinct, a proactive attitude and the drive to pick up the phone, make things happen and follow opportunities through?

This could be the opportunity for you.

We are recruiting for a

successful specialist trade business

in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs. The business supplies a wide range of products to the timber flooring and trade industry and has built a strong reputation through quality products, specialist knowledge and, most importantly, strong customer relationships.

We are looking for an

Account Manager | Trade Counter Sales & Business Development

to join their small team of 3.

This is a genuinely varied role where your

primary focus will be account management, growing existing customer spend and driving sales , while also being hands‑on and supporting customers at the trade counter.

THE ROLE This isn't simply a role where you'll sit behind a desk waiting for customers to call.

You'll take an active role in

managing and growing the existing customer base , using the company's database to identify opportunities and develop a targeted approach to customer contact.

You'll segment the database, understand the different customer groups and proactively contact customers based on their history, needs and potential, whether that's reconnecting with an inactive customer, increasing the spend of an existing account or introducing a customer to a new product.

You'll be responsible for building genuine relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact for your customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing and developing existing customer accounts

Identifying opportunities to increase customer spend and sales

Segmenting the customer database and developing targeted contact strategies

Proactively contacting customers to generate sales and uncover opportunities

Re-engaging lapsed and inactive customers

Following up quotes, enquiries and sales opportunities

Building genuine, long‑term customer relationships

Developing strong knowledge of the company's products and services

Assisting trade customers at the counter when they visit

Processing orders, quotations and invoices

Providing customers with product information and advice

Maintaining accurate CRM and customer records

Recording outbound sales activity and following opportunities through

Supporting customer visits, product demonstrations and trade initiatives

Identifying new business opportunities within the existing customer baseContributing to the overall growth of the business

WE'RE LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT PERSON — NOT JUST THE RIGHT RESUME For this role,

attitude, behaviour and willingness to learn are incredibly important.

You don't necessarily need to have worked in the timber flooring industry.

What we need is someone who is

hungry to learn, proactive, commercially minded and genuinely enjoys building relationships with people.

You'll be someone who:

Naturally builds rapport and makes people feel comfortable

Genuinely cares about providing great customer service

Is confident picking up the phone and speaking with customers

Is proactive and doesn't wait to be told what to do

Looks for opportunities to grow sales rather than simply taking orders

Is curious and genuinely willing to learn

Is open to feedback and developing new skills

Takes ownership and follows things through

Is organised and pays attention to detail

Is motivated by achieving results

Is reliable and accountable

Is positive, energetic and enthusiastic

Is comfortable working with people from

all nationalities, cultures and backgrounds

Is respectful, open‑minded and able to build relationships with a diverse customer base

Is prepared to

roll up their sleeves and get involved

THIS IS A SMALL TEAM — EVERYONE PITCHES IN You'll be joining a team of just

3 people , which means this isn't a role where you simply stick to your own job description.

Everyone helps everyone.

While your primary focus will be account management, sales growth and business development, you'll also be expected to get involved and help across the business when required.

That could mean helping a customer at the trade counter, assisting with stock or goods coming into the business, keeping the work area organised or jumping in to support your teammates during a busy period.

We're looking for someone who sees what needs to be done and gets involved.

Someone who doesn't say, "That's not my job."

THE OPPORTUNITY This is an opportunity to join a successful well established business and play a genuine part in growth.

As you develop your product knowledge, customer relationships and understanding of the business, there is scope for the role to continue to evolve.

You will have the opportunity to take greater ownership of key accounts, develop your business development skills, visit customers, demonstrate products, identify new opportunities and ultimately have a real impact on the company's sales growth.

If you're ambitious, willing to learn new products and want the opportunity to grow with a business, this role can give you that.

EXPERIENCE Experience in

account management, internal sales, trade sales, hardware, flooring, building products or a similar industry

would be highly regarded.

However, industry experience isn't the most important thing.

We can teach you the products.

We're looking for someone who brings the right

attitude, work ethic, customer focus and willingness to learn.

A

forklift licence is desirable . If you don't currently hold one, you will be required to obtain a forklift licence once you commence in the role.

THE DETAILS Position:

Account Manager | Trade Counter Sales & Business Development Location:

Northern Suburbs of Melbourne Hours:

READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP? If you're a

relationship builder, a natural salesperson and someone who is willing to learn, get involved and make a difference , we'd love to hear from you.

This is an prospect for someone who wants more than just a job —

you'll have the chance to build relationships, grow accounts, develop your skills and grow alongside a successful business.
