Humpty Doo Barramundi is Australia's largest Barramundi farm. This 100% family owned and operated farm is located approx. 50km outside of the Darwin area and prides itself on growing a premium saltwater Barramundi for Australia's retail and food service.

We are currently seeking Aquaculture Hatchery Technicians, to join our Hatchery Team based at the Darwin Aquaculture Centre, located at Channel Island – 40km from Darwin CBD, for the day to day running of HDB’s Hatchery operation. During your employment we will train and educate you in a diverse range of skills related to Aquaculture and Barramundi farming.

Aquaculture Hatchery Technicians Responsibilities and Duties

- Production of Live Feed - Rotifers

- Broodstock handling and care

- Fish feeding

- Larval rearing

- Fish Stock Handling and grading

- Fish health

- Data collection and input

- Research and development projects

- Water quality monitoring and analysis

- System cleaning, sterilization and maintenance

Essential Criteria:

- Relevant qualifications and or experience in Aquaculture, Agriculture, Horticulture or Science related field (certificate, diploma or degree)

- Live feed production and experience with Rotifer is highly desirable

- Must have current drivers license

- Own reliable transport





- High attention to detail and willingness to learn

Hatchery Technicians are involved in hands-on work involved where you will be required to carry out a wide range of duties that will include handling small baby fish and large brood fish, feeding, cleaning, and upholding a high standard of biosecurity.

We are seeking keen, hardworking, positive people who thrive on a challenge and are comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all seasons. You must be comfortable in and around water. A high level of physical fitness is required as the fish farming environment can be physically demanding.

This position is immediate start for suitable candidates. Both Full Time and Casual roles are available 15-20hrs per week.
