Now in our 11th year of consistently busy operation, we have a rare chance for an experienced professional to join our senior management team. We are a wine focussed hatted restaurant across two levels, with a tight team of hospitality professionals and a diverse range of regular guests.

Role Description The Assistant Restaurant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Embla in Melbourne, VIC. This role supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth service and a consistently high standard of guest experience.
Key responsibilities include supervising staff during service, coordinating reservations and walk-ins, managing floor plans, and monitoring guest satisfaction throughout each shift.
The Assistant Restaurant
Manager helps with staff training, rostering, and performance feedback, and collaborates with the kitchen and bar teams to maintain seamless communication. The role also involves handling customer inquiries, resolving service issues, assisting with inventory and ordering, and contributing to operational improvements that align with Embla’s standards and brand.
Qualifications
- Strong focus on Customer Satisfaction and Customer Service, with experience delivering high-quality guest experiences in a restaurant of a similar calibre
- Proficient Communication skills, including clear verbal communication with guests and team members, and effective written communication for internal use
- Experience in Hiring and supporting staff onboarding, with the ability to help build and maintain a cohesive, high-performing team
- Solid knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, including menu and wine list understanding, service standards, and basic stock management
- Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality supervision or management, ideally in a busy, high-quality venue
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple tasks during peak service periods
- Confidence in handling customer feedback and resolving issues calmly and professionally
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays from time to time
