As an Associate Portfolio Manager - Investment Innovation and Capability, you'll help advance the application of AI, machine learning and advanced analytics across our investment lifecycle.

Sitting within Portfolio Intelligence, you'll identify, develop and embed innovative analytics capabilities that enhance investment insight, improve efficiency and support alpha generation. You'll apply modern analytical techniques to investment research, portfolio monitoring and idea generation while exploring the potential of alternative data, machine-assisted research and intelligent workflows.

Working closely with investment leaders, data engineers and technology teams, you'll translate emerging capabilities and complex investment challenges into practical solutions. You'll experiment, prototype and develop reusable tools and frameworks while helping integrate successful solutions into production environments and day-to-day investment workflows.

This role gives you the opportunity to combine your knowledge of financial markets with strong quantitative and technical capability in a quick-evolving environment. You'll contribute to how new data, modelling techniques and AI-enabled approaches are used to support better, faster and more consistent investment decision-making.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

- Contribute to the design and application of AI and machine learning techniques across investment processes.
- Develop predictive analytics capabilities that enhance investment insights, portfolio monitoring and decision support.
- Work with investment leaders to apply data-driven models,



knowledge graphs and other AI methods to investment challenges.
- Support machine-assisted investment research, including signal generation, idea screening and information synthesis.
- Design and implement agentic and automated workflows that enable faster and more consistent decision-making.
- Explore and evaluate new data sources, modelling techniques and emerging AI capabilities.
- Partner with data engineers and technology teams to develop scalable data pipelines and integrate AI solutions into production environments.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, practical and actionable insights for investment stakeholders.
- Collaborate across investments, data and technology to embed innovative capabilities into day-to-day workflows.
- Contribute to experimentation, prototyping and the development of reusable tools and frameworks.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

- You hold a degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Your quantitative and analytical capabilities are supported by experience using Python, SQL or similar tools.
- You'll bring a solid understanding of machine learning techniques and their application to real-world problems.
- You're knowledgeable about investment concepts, financial markets and asset classes.
- You have experience working with structured and unstructured data, ideally including alternative data.
- Your ability to translate complex data and analytics into practical insights enables effective investment decision-making.
- You'll be confident working with investment leaders, technical teams and stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- You're experienced in applying techniques such as natural language processing,



knowledge graphs or predictive modelling in an investment or financial context.
- You have exposure to agentic workflows, intelligent automation or decision-support systems.
- Your technical experience may include cloud and data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure or similar environments.
- You'll bring experience working with investment data platforms, analytical applications or related tools.
- You're interested in emerging AI capabilities and how they can be applied responsibly to portfolio management.
