BUILDING SURVEYOR - UNRESTRICTED - NSW Accredited

Local Government | min 6-Month Assignment | Immediate Start

We are currently seeking an experienced NSW Accredited Building Surveyor - Unrestricted to join a local council team on an initial six-month assignment, with potential for extension.

This is a predominantly office-based position, with a minimum commitment of 21 hours per week for casual part-time work or the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week.

ABOUT THE ROLE Working within Council's building and development assessment setting, you will primarily be responsible for reviewing development application referrals from a building perspective, providing professional advice and preparing recommended conditions.

The role may also involve construction certificate assessments, fire safety schedule assessments and, where required, site inspections to assist with Council's resourcing requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess development application referrals for building compliance and provide professional advice

Review more complex and larger-scale residential and commercial developments

Prepare recommended building-related conditions of consent

Undertake construction certificate assessments where required

Assess fire safety schedules and associated documentation

Conduct site inspections where required

Provide technical advice to internal Council teams and external stakeholders

Ensure assessments and recommendations are undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation,



regulations and the National Construction Code

ABOUT YOU To be considered for this position, you MUST hold current NSW Accredited Building Surveyor - Unrestricted accreditation.

This is a mandatory requirement. Candidates with restricted accreditation only will not be considered.

You will have:

Current NSW Building Surveyor - Unrestricted accreditation (formerly A1 or A5)

Demonstrated experience in building surveying and certification

Experience assessing complex residential and commercial development applications

Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC/BCA) and relevant NSW building legislation

The ability to independently assess plans, documentation and building proposals

Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to provide clear, practical and professional advice

Previous local government experience would be highly regarded

THE ROLE

Initial 6-month assignment

Immediate start preferred

Minimum 21 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week

Council JG7.1 equivalent - $64.35 per hour + super

Predominantly office-based

Potential for site inspections as required

This is a highly specialised opportunity suited to an experienced Building Surveyor who holds unrestricted NSW accreditation and can confidently assess larger and more complex development applications.

Only candidates holding current NSW Accredited Building Surveyor - Unrestricted accreditation will be considered.
