Located at voco Melbourne Central, Blacksmith is our signature restaurant and bar, offering a polished yet relaxed dining experience in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We’re looking for a Bartender with personality, someone who knows their drinks, enjoys connecting with guests and brings great energy to every service.

You’ll be the kind of person who genuinely enjoys being behind the bar. Whether you’re recommending a wine, mixing a cocktail, remembering a regular’s favourite drink or keeping the bar flowing during a busy dinner service, you’ll play an important role in creating an experience guests want to come back for.

Your Day-to-Day

You’ll help create a welcoming, vibrant and memorable bar experience by:

- Welcoming guests with warmth, confidence and genuine hospitality

- Preparing and serving cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages to a high standard

- Engaging with guests, reading the room and making thoughtful recommendations based on their preferences

- Developing strong knowledge of our drinks menu and being confident discussing wine, beer, cocktails and spirits

- Creating memorable moments through genuine conversation and attentive service

- Following standard recipes and presentation standards while bringing your own personality to the bar

- Delivering responsible service of alcohol, including checking guest identification when required

- Keeping the bar clean, organised, well-stocked and ready for service

- Managing cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately

- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stocktake and inventory control

- Responding confidently and professionally to guest requests or concerns





- Supporting the wider Food & Beverage team and jumping in wherever needed

- Keeping calm, organised and positive when service gets busy

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Personable and confident – comfortable starting conversations and making guests feel at ease

- Naturally hospitable – genuinely enjoys looking after people and creating memorable experiences

- Energetic and positive – brings great energy to every shift
- A outstanding communicator – able to connect with guests while maintaining a professional approach

- Passionate about drinks – interested in cocktails, wine, beer and spirits and keen to continue developing your knowledge

- Calm under pressure – able to keep service moving when the bar gets busy
- A team player – happy to support the wider restaurant and Food & Beverage team

- Previous bartending, cocktail, mixology experience is highly regarded

- Sound knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits

- Current RSA Victoria certification

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays

- Comfortable with late finishes and standing for extended periods
