CANBERRA HAWKERS CENTRE PTY LTD is a growing multi-site food and hospitality network operating company-owned stores.

We are now seeking an experienced Business Consultant, based in ACT, to join our Operations Department.

About the role

This is not a store management or compliance-checking role. As a Business Consultant you will provide independent, objective and evidence-based advice to Director & General Manager.

You will run structured consulting engagements with individual businesses: diagnosing the real cause of performance gaps, analysing financial and operational data, building tailored improvement plans, and then working alongside the business to implement them and measure the result.

What you will be doing

As a Business Consultant, you’ll work closely with Director & General Manager and store leaders to understand how their businesses are performing and where they can improve.

You will

- Review store performance, including sales, labour, COGS, profitability, customer feedback and operational results. Visit stores to understand what is really happening on the ground — from workflow and team structure to leadership, service and production. Identify the root cause of performance gaps and provide practical improvement plans, evidence-based recommendation with clear priorities and measurable outcomes. Provide advisory support to store leaders to implement agreed improvement initiatives and improve business performance. Help businesses improve profitability through better labour management, cost control, sales growth, catering, upselling, inventory and local marketing.



Prepare P&L; forecasts and translate financial results into simple, practical recommendations. Support broader operational projects, recent store openings and growth initiatives when required. Track progress, follow up on agreed actions and report key risks, opportunities and results to the leadership team.

About you

Essential

- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Management or a related discipline Minimum 4 years' experience in business consulting, multi-site operations or commercial analysis — ideally in hospitality, QSR, retail environments Strong financial literacy: confident reading and interpreting a P&L;, modelling labour and COGS scenarios, and building forecasts Demonstrated ability to diagnose business problems from data and observation, then convert findings into practical, costed recommendations Excellent stakeholder communication — you can tell an owner something they don't want to hear and still keep them on side Advanced Excel and reporting skills Current driver's licence, based in or able to relocate to ACT, and available for interstate travel as required Full working rights in Australia

Desirable
- Experience supporting new store openings and operational readiness Exposure to POS, rostering and BI reporting platforms Project management or continuous improvement experience

Pay: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
