Are you an experienced Occupational Health Nurse or Allied Health professional with a strong background in injury management and return to work?
Aviagen is seeking a specialist to take ownership of injury management, workers’ compensation and occupational health across their NSW operations.
Demonstrated experience independently managing injury cases, workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work outcomes is essential.

Based in Goulburn and reporting to the HR Manager, you will support approximately 180–200 employees across their Goulburn, Wellington, Bowral and Wagga Wagga sites. You will combine practical workplace involvement with specialist case management, helping employees recover safely and supporting managers to make informed decisions about health and work capacity.

About the role
As the dedicated occupational health and injury management specialist for NSW, you will independently manage your caseload and coordinate workplace health programs across multiple sites.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing the employer’s workers’ compensation and injury management processes from notification through to closure, including complex, prolonged and psychological injury cases.
- Reviewing Certificates of Capacity, assessing job demands, identifying suitable duties and developing and monitoring practical return-to-work plans.
- Coordinating treatment and rehabilitation with treating practitioners, insurers and rehabilitation providers, including case conferences and specialist assessments.
- Identifying barriers to recovery, progressing outstanding actions and escalating complex matters with insurers, providers and legal advisers.
- Managing fitness-for-work matters involving work-related and non-work-related injuries, illness and other health conditions,



including temporary restrictions and workplace adjustments.
- Leading early intervention, ergonomic assessments and injury-prevention initiatives in consultation with workers and managers.
- Managing pre-employment and periodic health assessment programs, including audiometry, spirometry, vision and functional assessments, within your qualifications and competence.
- Managing drug and alcohol testing and respirator fit-testing programs, including testing schedules, records and follow-up.
- Coordinating relevant external clinical services, immunisation programs and occupational hygiene monitoring.
- Supporting psychosocial risk management, employee wellbeing and workplace health education.
- Maintaining confidential records, reviewing health and injury trends, and reporting on claims costs, lost time and return-to-work outcomes.
- Developing and reviewing occupational health and injury management procedures and programs.

Regular travel to regional NSW sites is an integral part of the role.

About you
You are an Occupational Health Nurse or suitably qualified Allied Health professional, such as a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, with established experience in workplace injury management.
You can confidently manage cases independently, translate medical information into practical workplace arrangements and work through complex matters with employees, managers and external providers.

Essential requirements

- A relevant nursing or allied health qualification, with current professional registration or accreditation appropriate to your profession.




- For nursing applicants, demonstrated occupational health nursing experience.
- Proven experience independently managing injury cases, workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Experience managing complex cases, including physical and psychological injuries and barriers to recovery.
- Working knowledge of NSW workers’ compensation, injury management and return-to-work requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to review capacity information against job demands and develop suitable duties and workplace adjustments.
- Experience coordinating insurers, treating practitioners and rehabilitation providers, including case conferences and claims reviews.
- The ability to prioritise a varied caseload and independently manage programs across multiple sites.
- Strong communication, sound qualified judgement and a practical, confidential and empathetic approach.
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly within regional NSW.

Highly regarded

- Experience in occupational health surveillance, ergonomic assessments and injury prevention.
- Relevant training and experience in audiometry, spirometry, drug and alcohol testing or respirator fit testing.
- Experience analysing claims performance and using health and injury data to improve outcomes.
