Expression of Interest - Make an impact across Government Shared Services

Government Shared Services (GSS) is a division of Department of Customer Service that delivers essential shared services to more than 100 NSW Government agencies, supporting outcomes for the people of NSW.

Client & Commercial Solutions (C&CS;) supports GSS by strengthening governance, managing client relationships, and providing assurance, commercial, and financial oversight to enable effective and reliable shared service delivery.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Officer to join Client & Commercial Solutions (C&CS;) and lead the coordination and implementation of Machinery of Government (MoG) changes affecting Government Shared Services.

This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex change, coordinating stakeholders and turning government decisions into practical transition activity. You’ll work across service, corporate and agency teams to manage MoG impacts from initial assessment through to implementation, stabilisation and measurable outcomes.

The Opportunity

As Senior Project Officer, you will provide central coordination for MoG changes across the full implementation lifecycle. You’ll translate government decisions and transition requirements into integrated delivery plans, establish governance and reporting, coordinate interdependent workstreams, and keep implementation moving where responsibilities, timeframes and stakeholder interests are complex or evolving.

You’ll have the autonomy to shape your approach, solve problems and provide trusted advice to support informed decision-making.

You could be assessing impacts on clients and shared services, coordinating transition activities across people, processes, systems, finance, records, governance and agreements, resolving cross-agency dependencies, preparing implementation advice for senior leaders, or supporting post-transition stabilisation and benefits realisation.

What you’ll do

- Lead the end-to-end coordination of Machinery of Government changes, from announcement and impact assessment through to transition, implementation, stabilisation and closure.
- Coordinate impacted GSS, departmental and agency workstreams to confirm scope, roles, responsibilities, sequencing and hand-offs across the transition.
- Assess and coordinate impacts across clients, service delivery, people, processes, systems, data, records,

finance, delegations, governance, contracts and service agreements.
- Establish fit-for-purpose MoG governance, reporting and escalation arrangements, including working groups, decision logs, action registers and executive status reporting.
- Identify and manage implementation risks, issues, assumptions and interdependencies, escalating matters early and coordinating practical resolution across responsible teams.
- Prepare clear briefs, implementation updates, options and recommendations for senior stakeholders, governance forums and decision-makers.
- Monitor implementation progress, readiness and post-transition performance, ensuring outstanding actions are closed and agreed outcomes are embedded.
- Capture lessons learned and improve MoG coordination tools, templates and processes to strengthen future change implementation across C&CS; and GSS.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced project professional who is comfortable operating in complex environments and taking ownership of delivery.

You will bring:

- MoG implementation experience – you understand how structural changes affect agencies, functions and shared services and can translate decisions into coordinated transition activity.
- Complex coordination – you can bring together interdependent workstreams, establish clear accountabilities and maintain momentum across teams with competing priorities or dual reporting lines.
- Implementation discipline – you can manage milestones, readiness, risks, issues, dependencies and decisions while maintaining a clear focus on service continuity and transition outcomes.
- Sound judgement – you can work through ambiguity, assess competing requirements and develop practical options when policy direction, scope or responsibilities are evolving.
- Stakeholder influence – you are confident engaging senior leaders, agencies, corporate functions and service teams to resolve issues and build commitment to shared implementation outcomes.
- Government context – you understand public sector governance, accountability and decision-making requirements and can work effectively across organisational boundaries.
- Clear communication – you can turn complex implementation information into concise briefs, executive updates, decisions and practical guidance for affected stakeholders.

- Adaptability and resilience – you remain focused and constructive when announcements, timeframes, structures or implementation priorities change.
- A solid focus on outcomes – you take ownership, follow through and ensure MoG changes are implemented in a controlled, practical and sustainable way.

Why join C&CS;?

This is an opportunity to work on projects that sit at the heart of how Government Shared Services operates.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals across GSS, engage with senior leaders and stakeholders across government, and have the opportunity to build your project, stakeholder and strategic capability in a genuinely varied environment.

If you’re looking for a role where you can lead meaningful work, influence outcomes and see your ideas become reality, we’d like to hear from you.

Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at 133,348 base plus superannuation
