About the role The Roof Company is building the operational technology platform that will support the next stage of growth. You will take ownership of the systems that run the business and continuously improve how they work. You will work directly with the CEO and operational team to design, build and improve the systems behind sales, estimating, project delivery, purchasing, finance, compliance, reporting and field operations.

The current environment is heavily built around Airtable, Zapier, Google Workspace, Xero, APIs and AI, with an increasing focus on using ChatGPT and other AI systems as an operational layer across the company. You will have significant freedom to improve the architecture rather than simply maintain what already exists.

Key responsibilities

- Own and continuously improve Airtable-based CRM, Projects, Finance and operational systems
- Design clean database structures, relationships, workflows and interfaces
- Build and maintain automations using Zapier, APIs, webhooks and custom scripts
- Integrate Airtable with platforms including Xero, Gmail, Google Drive, DocuSign and other SaaS tools
- Develop internal AI workflows using ChatGPT and other AI models
- Build systems that allow staff to interact with company data conversationally through AI
- Develop AI-assisted workflows for estimating, reporting, project management, administration and finance
- Build reliable event logging and audit trails across business systems
- Improve quoting, estimating and take-off workflows
- Automate material ordering, purchase orders and supplier communications





About you

- Experience with Airtable or another relational database / low-code platform
- Experience with Zapier, Make, n8n or similar automation platforms
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON
- Experience with JavaScript or Python
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with Google Workspace
- Experience with Xero or accounting system integrations
- Experience with CRM architecture, data modelling, and workflow design
- Experience with business intelligence and reporting
- Experience with AI APIs and large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
- Ability to understand a business process quickly and ask valuable questions
- Ability to design sensible data structures and build reliable systems
- Ability to test your own work and find edge cases before users find them
- Ability to debug problems independently and document what you build
- Comfort balancing speed with reliability and improving existing systems
- Comfort working directly with the people actually using the system
