About the role

As a Community Engagement Connector, you will help create a welcoming hub where students and families can build relationships, take part in activities and connect with services that matter to them.

This role focuses on engagement and community development. You will work within clear practice boundaries and seek support from senior colleagues when families need a more complex response. The role does not involve case management or therapeutic support.

This is a permanent part-time role working 22.8 hours across three days per week. The regular days and hours will be discussed during recruitment and agreed in writing before commencement.

What you will do

- Create a safe, welcoming space for students and families.





- Build trusted, respectful relationships with families, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

- Listen to families’ strengths, priorities and choices, and support them to access integrated services and programs.

- Work with community members, organisations and service providers to develop community initiatives and partnerships.

- Strengthen coordination and collaboration between the school and FamilyLinQ hub.

- Develop and promote activities, workshops and events that encourage participation.

- Provide administrative support, maintain accurate records and assist with program evaluation and hub operations.

- Contribute to a positive team culture and work with colleagues to maintain a culturally safe and respectful environment.

Cultural safety is a responsibility shared by the whole FamilyLinQ team.

What you will bring

You can build trust with people from different backgrounds and work well with families, schools and community organisations. You will have significant experience working with First Nations people and communities and working across cultural difference. You listen carefully, communicate clearly and take a practical,



strengths-based approach to solving problems. You can organize your work, manage competing priorities and respond constructively when challenges arise.

Experience in community engagement, family support, early years, education, health or community development would be valuable. This may have been gained through paid work, volunteering or community involvement. A relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.

What we offer

- SCHADS Level 4, $46.70–$50.25 per hour plus superannuation. Appointment within the range will depend on relevant experience and qualifications.

- Permanent part-time work across three days per week.

Child safety and pre-employment checks

We are committed to child safety and to environments where children feel safe, respected and heard. All team members must follow our safeguarding requirements and complete training required for work on a Queensland state school site.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory referee checks, identity and right-to-work verification, a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and holding a current Queensland Blue Card before commencement.
