Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Reconnect Caseworker to join our Reconnect program in Wellington, NSW 2820, supporting young people across Wellington and Narromine. This is a part time, fixed-term opportunity working 21 hours per week until June 2027, with potential for extension subject to funding.

About the Role

As a Reconnect Caseworker, you will

- Provide early intervention and case management support to young people aged 12–18 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Develop, implement and review individual case plans, working collaboratively with young people to identify their needs, set goals and access appropriate supports
- Support young people with needs relating to accommodation, family relationships, health, education, training, employment and community participation
- Work with young people and their families to strengthen and maintain protected family connections through practical support, coaching, mediation, information and referrals
- Build strong relationships with schools, youth and community services, Aboriginal service networks and other local organisations across Wellington and Narromine
- Facilitate group programs and community activities that promote positive connections and provide pathways into further individual support
- Advocate for young people and participate in case conferences, interagency activities and community projects
- Maintain accurate case files and program records while appropriately identifying and responding to child protection and safety concerns.

You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality services that uphold child safety, cultural safety and family-led practice.

You will ideally bring:

- Experience or relevant studies in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services,



Family Support or a related field.
- Strong engagement and relationship-building skills, particularly with vulnerable or disengaged young people.
- An ability to build effective relationships with schools, community services and other local stakeholders.
- Strong organisation, time management and case-note writing skills.
- Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate client records and reporting.
- The ability to work independently, manage referrals and structure outreach and administrative responsibilities effectively.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to calmly de-escalate challenging situations.
- Local knowledge of Wellington, Narromine and surrounding communities would be highly valued.

Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.

- Salary: $80,015 - $92,295 per annum (pro rata for part time)
