Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you’ll lead the Council of Censors, and work closely with the Board, the Executive team, Medical Educators and Education and Training leaders to fulfil the responsibilities and delegated authority of this important role.

About The Role The RACGP is seeking an accomplished Fellow and senior medical educator for the employed executive role of Censor-in-Chief.

You’ll advance academic excellence and uphold the integrity and value of RACGP Fellowship. You’ll provide authoritative advice and academic leadership on academic quality and integrity, education governance, Fellowship standards and related education policy and guidance.

Leading the Council of Censors and the Professional Standards Committee, you'll assure the equitable, defensible and nationally consistent application of standards across pathways to Fellowship.

The remit is significant and the decisions can be complex. You'll bring sound judgement, professional credibility and the ability to work constructively across educational, executive and governance settings.

In this role, you will

- Lead the Council of Censors and Professional Standards Committee
- Assure the equitable, defensible and nationally consistent application of standards across pathways to Fellowship
- Provide authoritative advice on academic quality, education governance, Fellowship standards and related risks
- Oversee the assessment framework, ensuring assessments are evidence-based, fit-for-purpose and properly implemented




- Provide leadership and quality assurance across relevant international education, assessment and accreditation partnerships
- Make determinations on eligibility, policy exceptions, examination arrangements and other matters within delegated authority
- Adjudicate complex matters not clearly addressed by existing policy or guidance
- Review and ratify relevant education policy and recommendations for admission to Fellowship within delegated authority
- Work closely with the CEO, Board, Executive team, Medical Educators and Education and Training leaders.

You will bring

- Fellowship of the RACGP
- Current unrestricted medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Deep understanding of Australian Medical Council accreditation standards
- In-depth knowledge of RACGP training standards, education frameworks, programs and policies
- Extensive knowledge of RACGP assessment frameworks, assessments and examinations
- Significant understanding of RACGP Fellowship and assessment pathways
- Qualifications or experience in developing, delivering and evaluating education and assessment in a general practice context
- Sound judgement when applying policy and delegated authority to complex and sensitive matters
- The professional standing and relationship skills to lead committees, engage Fellows and work effectively with senior organisational and governance stakeholders.
