Insight Early Learning Kelmscott is looking for a dedicated Centre Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our friendly team. We have full-time and part-time opportunities available, with 30–38 hours per week.

You will be supporting the framework that eating is a pleasurable experience by introducing children to a variety of food from a range of cultures.

About the Role

As our Centre Cook, you’ll be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and culturally appropriate meals for the children each day. You’ll work closely with the team to ensure meals meet individual dietary needs and allergies, while maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen.

A typical day may include:

- Preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children, taking into account dietary requirements and allergies.
- Following Australian food safety, nutrition and hygiene standards.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Reviewing and contributing to the centre’s menu.




- Managing food supplies and helping to work within the kitchen budget.
- Ordering and using food supplies thoughtfully to minimise waste.
- Building positive relationships with children, families and the wider team.
- Working collaboratively with educators and supporting food and cooking experiences for children.
- Bringing a positive and reliable approach to the kitchen each day.
- Supporting the centre team with general kitchen and meal-related tasks as needed.

What You Will Bring To be successful in this role, you'll have:

- Previous experience in a childcare setting or similar environment.
- Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one before starting.
- Current Food Handling and Food Safety Supervisor Certificates.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- A genuine interest in preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children.
- Comfortable working with educators, families and the wider community.
- Happy to get involved in cooking experiences and food-related activities with the children.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Friendly, reliable and positive approach to your work.
