Help shape what comes next for one of Melbourne’s most loved music broadcasters.

For more than 50 years, 3MBS Melbourne has championed classical music and jazz, supported Victorian musicians and connected a passionate community of listeners, presenters, artists and supporters.

With around 200 volunteers, a $1.5M turnover and more than 170,000 weekly listeners, 3MBS is looking for a CEO to build on strong foundations and lead its next chapter.

It’s a broad leadership role, with responsibility for the organisation, its people and performance. Working closely with the Board, you’ll lead the team and volunteer community, oversee operations and financial performance, and drive the strategic priorities of 3MBS.

There is also significant prospect ahead.

3MBS has a loyal and established audience, with the potential to reach more people, particularly younger and more diverse audiences, and broaden the ways people discover and engage with classical music and jazz.

Digital, streaming and on-demand will be part of that, alongside building 3MBS’s profile and connections across Melbourne’s arts and cultural community.





Growing and diversifying revenue is equally important. There is scope to build engagement with patrons and supporters, develop philanthropy, sponsorship, advertising and partnerships, and explore new opportunities that fit the organisation and its audience.

We’re looking for an astute, collaborative and commercially minded leader who can move comfortably between strategy and delivery. You’ll know how to lead people, build trust and work effectively with a Board, while bringing the judgement and curiosity to recognise where the next opportunities lie.

You don’t have to come from radio. Experience across arts and culture, media, entertainment, membership or the not-for-profit sector could all be relevant.

What matters is that you can lead an organisation, understand audiences and revenue, and appreciate the role music and independent broadcasting play in Melbourne’s cultural life.
