The Basketball Lab Underwood Pty Ltd is seeking a passionate and experienced Basketball Trainer to join our coaching team in Underwood, QLD. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful impact on the development of basketball players across all levels. As a Basketball Trainer, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality instruction, skill development and coaching to our diverse player base, helping them achieve their athletic potential and fostering a love for the game.
What you'll be doing
Conducting individual and group basketball training sessions, focusing on fundamental skills, technique refinement and overall player development
Developing and delivering tailored training programmes based on individual player needs, abilities and developmental stages
Providing constructive feedback and guidance to players during training to encourage improvement and build confidence
Maintaining a safe and inclusive training environment that promotes skill development and player wellbeing
Monitoring player progress and documenting development over time
Collaborating with other coaching staff to ensure consistent messaging and high standards of instruction
Promoting The Basketball Lab's values and helping to build a positive community atmosphere
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a basketball coach, trainer or instructor, demonstrating a robust technical knowledge of basketball
Excellent teaching and communication skills with the ability to explain complex techniques clearly to players of varying abilities within a small group context
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain these qualifications)
Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
or willingness to apply for one
A genuine passion for basketball and commitment to player development
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and inspire players
Physical fitness and ability to demonstrate basketball skills and techniques
Reliability and punctuality in meeting training commitments
Experience working with diverse age groups and skill levels is advantageous
Knowledge of coaching best practices and current basketball trends is preferred
