The Opportunity

Play a key role in maintaining and improving Noosa's road network as part of Council's Road Maintenance Unit. In this hands-on position, you'll coordinate daily works, lead and support crew activities, install road signage & line marking and undertake asphalt and bituminous road maintenance and minor construction projects. You'll combine your technical expertise with practical leadership to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes.

- $86,590 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading

About You

You are an experienced civil construction or road maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to safe, high-quality work. With experience in asphalt/bituminous works and the installation of road signage and line marking, you enjoy coordinating crews, supporting team members and delivering maintenance and construction projects efficiently. You thrive in a hands-on environment, take pride in maintaining essential community infrastructure, and are committed to achieving positive outcomes for the Noosa community.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate road maintenance activities by supervising daily site operations, allocating resources, providing on-the-job training,



and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards
- Undertake and oversee the maintenance and minor construction of various Council assets involving asphalt and bituminous works, road signage installation and line marking works, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with relevant procedures
- Operate specialised plant and heavy vehicles, including driving a rigid motor vehicle up to 15 tonnes GVM, to support the delivery of road maintenance and construction programs
- Support effective service delivery through accurate record keeping, stakeholder communication, effective teamwork, and participation in emergency response and after-hours operations as required

Essential Skills and Experience

- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate and motivate crews to achieve operational outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with colleagues, contractors and members of the public
- Ability to provide on-the-job coaching and support to team members in a collaborative work environment
- Flexibility, reliability and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour, including regular heavy lifting, bending and repetitive physical tasks

Qualifications, Training and Licences

- Certificate III in Local Government (Operational Works), Certificate III in Civil Construction (or similar qualification), or demonstrated equivalent competency gained through experience
- Current Construction Industry White Card (CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence
