Sydney Water Tanks and BIOSeptic are looking for an experienced

Excavator Operator with a Certificate III in Plumbing, or drainage experience and a current HR or HC licence

who wants varied work and genuine long‑term job security with an established Australian family company.

You’ll help excavate, deliver and install wastewater treatment systems, septic tanks, collection wells and underground concrete water tanks across residential, rural and commercial properties.

About the Role Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will work as part of our installation team across Greater Sydney, regional NSW and the ACT.

Your responsibilities will include:

Safely operating excavators on residential, rural and commercial sites

Excavating tank holes to precise depths using laser levels

Excavating trenches, drainage lines and irrigation areas to specified levels

Installing wastewater treatment systems, septic tanks, collection wells and underground water tanks

Completing plumbing and drainage work associated with each installation

Installing and connecting pipework, pumps and associated system components

Driving company trucks and transporting excavators, equipment and materials

Safely loading,



securing and unloading machinery

Trenching, levelling, backfilling and general site preparation

Identifying and protecting underground services

Reading and interpreting site and construction plans

Conducting daily pre‑start checks and reporting equipment or site issues

Communicating professionally with clients, builders and trades

Assisting with hands‑on installation duties when required

Following company procedures and workplace safety requirements

About You To be considered, you will have:

A Certificate III in Plumbing with relevant drainage experience

Demonstrated excavator operating experience

A current HR licence (HC preferred)

A current White Card

Experience transporting excavators or construction equipment

Experience undertaking plumbing, drainage, trenching or underground‑services work (detailed excavation, trenching and backfilling)

The ability to read plans, calculate levels and work safely around underground services

Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety

Good communication, time management, and problem‑solving skills

A willingness to assist with general installation and site duties

Flexibility to work overtime and travel to job sites when required

Current excavator competency documentation or verification of competency is preferred.





The following will be highly regarded:

An HC heavy vehicle licence

Wastewater, septic or underground‑tank installation experience

Experience installing pumps, pipework and irrigation systems

Residential, rural or civil excavation experience

Loader operating experience

Additional relevant plant, machinery or high‑risk work licences

You don’t need to meet every highly regarded requirement. If you have plumbing or drainage experience and demonstrated excavator operating experience, we encourage you to apply.
