Pepe’s Mexican is looking for an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team at our Jindalee restaurant.
Pepe’s Mexican is an established Brisbane restaurant group, serving Mexican-inspired food and drinks across our restaurants. We are looking for a reliable Cook who takes pride in food quality, consistency, hygiene and working effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.
About the Role
As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food in accordance with Pepe’s recipes, preparation procedures and food safety standards.
Your duties will include
- Preparing and cooking Mexican-inspired dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Preparing ingredients including meat, vegetables, sauces, marinades and other food components
- Cooking food using grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops and other commercial kitchen equipment
- Preparing food during service periods efficiently and consistently
- Portioning and plating food according to restaurant standards
- Monitoring food quality, freshness and presentation
- Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
- Assisting with food preparation and kitchen organisation
- Storing food correctly and monitoring stock levels
- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen and work area
- Minimising food waste and following appropriate stock rotation procedures
- Working closely with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth service
- Assisting with preparation and cleaning duties as required
About You The successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial restaurant or similar environment
- Good knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive communication and organisational skills
- A reliable and positive approach to work
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
Relevant qualifications and/or relevant commercial cooking experience will be highly regarded.
