Vatika Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef/Cook to join our team. As a full-time Chef/Cook, you will prepare authentic Indian dishes and ensure quality, consistency, and presentation across our menu. You’ll work in a collaborative kitchen environment, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and service efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discussing food preparation issues with Managers and waiting staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- Preparing and cooking traditional Indian dishes to a high standard
- Explaining and enforcing hygiene and food safety regulations
- Selecting and training kitchen staff as required
- Freezing and preserving foods when necessary
- Working with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and smooth workflow
- Assisting in menu planning and development of new items
- Mentoring junior staff and providing training when needed
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef/Cook in the hospitality industry
- Proven expertise in Indian cuisine
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards
- Ability to lead and work effectively in a team
- Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery or Certificate IV
