The Team The Environmental Health Services Team is dedicated to providing high-quality environmental health services, including the provision of expert advice to both internal and external customers, issuance of permits and registrations, and conducting inspections to ensure legislative compliance. The Role The Town is seeking a Coordinator Environmental Health Services to play a key role in advancing the strategic vision of the Regulatory Services Branch. With expertise in environmental health, you will provide responsive leadership and day-to-day supervision to the Environmental Health Services Team, while implementing processes and managing delivery standards that encourage the effective provision of environmental and public health services to support the health, safety and wellbeing of the local community. No two days will be the same with the Team responsible for carrying out the Town’s food premises, public building, mosquito management and water quality inspection programs, managing the Town’s compliance with its Public Health Plan, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and providing technical advice to both internal and external customers.

Selection Criteria

- Comprehensive knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, local laws, and practices relating to environmental and public health in a local government workplace.
- Extensive experience in the investigation, regulation and enforcement of environmental and public health matters, including the preparation of briefs of evidence, and court proceedings.
- Highly developed leadership and team building skills to lead and mentor staff to achieve high productivity, deliver excellent customer service, manage change, and identify and implement team improvements in line with organisational values, standards, and policies.
- Experience in policy and program development and demonstrated research and evaluation skills.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills which support negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving with a range of stakeholders, including the provision of written advice and Council reports.

Eligibility

- Tertiary qualification(s) in environmental health that affords eligibility for appointment as an Environmental Health Authorised Officer pursuant to relevant state legislation is essential.
- Authorisation as an Authorised Person and Inspector pursuant to the Environmental Protection Act 1986 is essential.
- National Police Clearance (No older than 3 months).
- Australian working rights.
- Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence is essential.
