About the role

Tradelink Launceston is seeking a Counter Sales professional to join our team in Launceston, TAS 7250. This is a full-time position that forms a vital part of our retail operations, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and sales performance. As a Counter Sales assistant, you will be at the front line of our business, delivering exceptional service to trade and retail customers whilst managing transactions and supporting the wider store operations.

This role is essential in building customer relationships and driving the success of our Launceston location.

Key responsibilities

- Providing knowledgeable and friendly service to customers at the sales counter, assisting with product selection and answering enquiries
- Processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale systems
- Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked sales counter environment
- Handling cash, card payments and other payment methods with accuracy and security
- Building positive customer relationships and identifying opportunities to upsell products and services
- Assisting with stock management, including receiving, checking and displaying merchandise
- Supporting team members and contributing to a collaborative working environment
- Adhering to company policies, procedures and health and safety standards
- Providing feedback on customer needs and product performance to management

What we're looking for

- Previous retail or customer service experience, preferably in a trade or hardware environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
- Numeracy skills and proficiency with point-of-sale or retail systems




- A keen eye for detail and ability to maintain accuracy in transactions and stock control
- Physical capability to handle stock, including lifting and movement of merchandise
- A positive, reliable and professional approach to work
- Flexibility to work retail hours, including potential weekend and evening shifts
- Knowledge of building, hardware or trade products is advantageous but not essential
