As the medical secretary for two surgeons in the same practice, you will be the key point of contact for patients, referring doctors and healthcare professionals, providing high-level administrative support. You will be required to combine exceptional organisational skills with a warm and qualified manner to manage appointments, co-ordinate theatre bookings, general administration and billing. Main consulting location: Peninsula Private Hospital, Langwarrin, 3910.

Permanent full-time employment – 38 hours per week

Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, no weekends or on call

Key responsibilities

Meeting and greet patients warmly to create a calm and welcoming environment

Managing patient appointments, bookings, theatre lists and surgical schedules

Managing incoming and outgoing medical correspondencePreparing patient quotes and invoices





Process health fund billing and Medicare claims

Coordinating pre-operative and post-operative patient investigations

Liaising with hospital staff, anaesthetists, other specialists and healthcare professionals

About you

Previous experience as a Medical Secretary, preferably within a specialist or surgical practice

Proficiency with Genie practice management software

A calm, polished and professional manner

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office

Excellent work ethic and reliability

Ability to multi-task and prioritise

Highly organised with strong attention to detail

Sound knowledge of Medicare, private health insurance and hospital admission processes
