Do you have what it takes to become a Data Automation Engineer?

As a Data Automation Engineer, you will design, build and maintain automated data solutions that support business operations and enable data-driven decision making. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll deliver robust and scalable data pipelines while ensuring accuracy, reliability and performance across our data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and data automation solutions.
- Build and optimise data workflows using SQL and Python.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and support production data solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation and optimisation opportunities.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, documented and aligned with governance standards.
- Work with source control and CI/CD practices to support ongoing development and deployment.




- Contribute to continuous improvement of Smartgroup's data and automation capabilities.

You'll bring:
- 2-4+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data Automation or a related field.
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience working with large and complex data transformations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience with GitHub, source control and exposure to CI/CD practices.
- Exposure to Azure or cloud-based data platforms will be highly regarded
