Role Description This is a full time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role located in Ayr, QLD.

The Diesel

Mechanic will perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine servicing on diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Daily tasks include conducting inspections, performing preventive maintenance, identifying mechanical and electrical faults, and replacing or repairing defective parts. The role involves maintaining service records, adhering to safety standards and company procedures, and communicating clearly with supervisors and colleagues about equipment status and repair needs.

Mechanic will also assist with general workshop duties, support continuous improvement of maintenance processes, and may be required to respond to breakdowns in the field.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics, with experience working on diesel engines in commercial vehicles or heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in Vehicle Maintenance, including diagnosis, repair, and servicing of light and heavy vehicles.
- Experience in Equipment Maintenance and Heavy Equipment service, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to plan and perform Preventive Maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in diesel fitting, heavy vehicle mechanics, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
- Commitment to workplace safety, with knowledge of safe workshop practices and use of tools and equipment.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
