Role Description The Disability Support Worker – Complex Behaviour will provide person-centered support to NDIS participants with high complex behavioral and mental health needs. This is a Casual role based in the Greater Canberra Area, involving direct care, daily living assistance, community access, and implementation of behavior support strategies. Day-to-day tasks include supporting participants with personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts (within scope), and household activities, while maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

The worker will follow individualised support and behavior plans, monitor changes in wellbeing, document progress and incidents, and communicate effectively with participants, families, clinical teams, and coordinators.

The role also involves promoting choice, independence, dignity, and inclusion,



and contributing to a positive team culture grounded in respect and accountability.

Qualifications

- Experience supporting people with complex behaviours, psychosocial disabilities, or mental health conditions, including de-escalation, crisis response, and trauma-aware support.
- Strong skills in relationship-building, communication, and teamwork, with the ability to collaborate effectively with participants, families, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Knowledge of NDIS frameworks, person-centered practice, and positive behaviour support principles, with commitment to rights-based, inclusive care.
- Capability to assist with daily living tasks such as personal care, domestic duties, and community participation, while promoting independence and safety.
- Competence in record-keeping, incident reporting, and using digital tools for documentation and communication.
- Relevant qualification in disability, community services, mental health, or a related field (e.g., Certificate III/IV or higher), or equivalent experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, Working With Vulnerable People check (or ability to obtain), and any required police or background checks.
- Ability to work adaptable shifts (including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers as required) and to travel within the Greater Canberra Area.
