Heritage College Lake Macquarie (HCLM) is seeking an inspirational and visionary Teacher of Mathematics to passionately lead the Mathematics faculty and teach across years 7 to 12. This role includes responsibility for curriculum quality, innovative and high-quality teaching practice, assessment, student achievement, staff development and effective day-to-day operation of the Mathematics faculty. The Faculty Leader of Mathematics will promote a culture in which high expectations apply to every student, providing timely support for those who find maths difficult, building confidence without lowering the intellectual challenge and creating genuine extension for students with considerable mathematical ability.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, mentor, and support Mathematics faculty staff to enhance instructional quality, oversee curriculum planning and assessment, and direct professional development and resource management
- Analyse student achievement data to refine instructional approaches, implement targeted interventions, and integrate robust assessment practices that drive student success and communicate expectations
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated learning programs across secondary levels using 21st-century evidence-based practices to cater to diverse learning needs, including gifted and talented students, and students needing learning support
- Establish positive, innovative classroom environments through evidence-based behavior management strategies while upholding student wellbeing and aligning with the College's Christian values
- Build strong partnerships with families and staff, cultivate a collegial workplace culture,



and actively participate in co-curricular and whole‑school initiatives such as sport and drama

About you

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Mathematics and Education
- Substantial experience teaching Mathematics, including Stage 6 courses
- Sound knowledge of contemporary Mathematics curriculum and pedagogy
- Evidence of leadership, whether through a formal position or significant curriculum, pastoral or skilled responsibilities
- A strong record of student growth and academic achievement
- Experience teaching Mathematics Advanced and Extension courses would be highly regarded
- Demonstrates a calm, professional, and approachable demeanor with exceptional communication skills across staff, students, and parents
- Strong collaborative team player with the capacity to lead improvement with both ambition and good judgement
- High integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Driven by a genuine passion to proactively support the personal growth, wellbeing, and success of young people
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW, Australia
- Positive support for the College's Christian values
