About the role

Working as a Parks Worker, your duties will include a range of horticultural,



landscaping and general labouring activities, including:

- Planting, weeding, mulching and pruning trees and shrubs
- Mowing and turf management
- Irrigation activities
- Plant propagation
- Removing and disposing of debris and litter from parks and gardens
- General parks and gardens labouring
- Monitoring the general condition of plants within designated work areas
- Pest control and spraying activities, where appropriately qualified
- Operating and maintaining Council machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements
- Supporting the wider Parks and Gardens team to complete work safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
- Completing daily documentation, including timesheets and incident reports
- Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe work practices
- Providing a high level of customer service when interacting with members of the public

Mandatory requirements – you must have

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Certificate II in Horticulture OR relevant demonstrated horticultural/parks and gardens experience
- Current White Card – CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry
- Current C Class Driver Licence AND LR Licence
- Full Australian working rights – Australian citizens, permanent residents or candidates holding unrestricted Australian work rights
- Physical fitness, agility, strength and dexterity to undertake labouring duties, including frequent heavy lifting and bending
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Ability to follow work procedures, instructions and safe work practices




- Reliable transport and the ability to travel to required work locations
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive, professional attitude

The following qualifications, licences and experience will be highly regarded but are not mandatory:

- MR or HR Driver Licence
- AC/DC licence
- Chainsaw licence/ticket
- Experience or licences operating mechanical and handheld gardening equipment, including ride-on mowers
- Previous experience working within local government, parks and gardens, horticulture, landscaping or a similar outdoor workplace
- Relevant immunisations, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Tetanus, where applicable to assessed workplace risks
