Student Horizons is looking for a positive, highly organised and people-focused Educational Travel Specialist / Group Travel Coordinator to join our Sunshine Coast team.

This is not a standard travel-consultant role. You will coordinate meaningful school group journeys across Australia and the world, from Canberra civics programs and Far North Queensland adventures to European arts tours, US performing-arts experiences and international sports tours. You will also have the opportunity to travel with groups as a Logistics Director, seeing first-hand the impact of the experiences you help create.

As an Educational Travel Specialist / Group Travel Coordinator, you will be a key point of contact for schools from tour confirmation through to the group’s safe return home.

You will manage multiple group tours at once, bringing together flights, accommodation, transport, attractions, learning experiences, sports fixtures, meals, suppliers, tour documentation and school communications. You will be known for being organised, calm, responsive and always one step ahead.

Most importantly, you will help ensure every student and teacher has a safe, seamless and memorable experience.

What you’ll be doing

· Coordinate domestic and international educational group tours for secondary schools.

· Manage tour logistics including transport, accommodation, activities, meals, attractions, guides, group movements and itinerary delivery.

· Work closely with our flights team to coordinate air travel and ensure accurate, timely group travel arrangements.

· Build strong, professional relationships with teachers, school leaders, suppliers and tourism partners.

· Prepare clear, accurate and engaging tour documentation, including itineraries, travel information, operational notes and communications.

· Manage multiple tours,



deadlines and stakeholder expectations without losing sight of the detail.

· Assist with tour budgets, supplier negotiations, confirmations, invoices and value-for-money outcomes.

· Support risk management, operational planning and student safety processes across every stage of a tour.

· Conduct supplier liaison, account management and, where required, site inspections and safety checks.

· Travel as a Logistics Director on selected domestic and international tours, managing the on-the-ground operation while teachers focus on student pastoral care.

· Respond positively and practically when things change because the best group-tour operators are excellent problem-solvers.

The tours you could help bring to life

No two weeks are the same at Student Horizons. You may coordinate a diverse mix of domestic and international school tours, including:

- International educational tours across Europe, the USA and the UK, spanning arts, culture, music, performing arts, STEM, commerce and literary programs.
- Domestic educational tours such as Canberra civics programs and Far North Queensland experiences, often involving large groups of 70+ students and multiple itineraries.
- Selected international sports tours in rugby union, basketball, cricket, hockey, football and netball.

About you You are a vibrant, mature and capable operator who loves travel, but you also understand that outstanding travel experiences are created through planning, preparation, clear communication and exceptional care for people.

You are naturally positive, friendly and approachable. You enjoy working with people, solving problems and keeping many moving parts under control. You can switch from discussing a school’s itinerary with a teacher, to confirming a supplier booking, to solving a last-minute operational issue, all while remaining calm, professional and upbeat.

You do not need to come from a traditional travel background to succeed, although experience in travel, events, tourism, hospitality, school programs, logistics or group coordination will be highly regarded.

You will bring

· A willingness and genuine enthusiasm to travel domestically and internationally as a Logistics Director.

· A positive, can-do attitude and the energy to contribute to a fun, high-performing team culture.

Highly regarded

· Experience in travel, educational travel, group travel, events, tourism, hospitality, logistics or customer operations.

· Experience coordinating complex projects, events or group movements.

· Experience working with schools, young people, sporting groups or education providers.

· Supplier management, negotiation, budgeting or account-management experience.

· Knowledge of international destinations and travel operations.

· Supervisory, leadership or people-management experience.

· An interest in school sport and familiarity with rugby, basketball, cricket, hockey, football or netball.

What it’s like to be a Logistics Director

As a Logistics Director, you are the person who keeps the tour moving smoothly on the ground. You will oversee timings, bookings, transport, venues, suppliers and day-to-day changes, enabling teachers to focus on the pastoral care and wellbeing of their students.

You might be supporting a Canberra program, coordinating a New Zealand rugby tour, managing a European arts itinerary or helping deliver a major international educational experience.

What we offer
