Role Description The English and Humanities Teacher for Years 7–10 is a full-time, on-site role based at Fairhills High School in Knoxfield, VIC. The teacher will design and deliver engaging English and Humanities lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, including planning units of work, setting learning goals, and differentiating instruction for diverse learners. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, teaching classes, assessing and reporting on student progress, providing timely feedback, and supporting students’ literacy and critical thinking skills.

The role involves collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, participating in school improvement initiatives, and contributing to co-curricular and enrichment programs. The teacher will also support student wellbeing, maintain positive classroom environments,



and communicate regularly with families and caregivers as part of the broader school community.

Qualifications

- Solid skills in lesson planning and curriculum development for English and Humanities in Years 7–10.
- Experience teaching middle school students, with an understanding of adolescent learning and development.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, colleagues, and families.
- Knowledge and teaching capability in Humanities subjects, including Geography.
- Relevant teaching qualification and registration (or eligibility for registration) with the appropriate Victorian teaching authority.
- Demonstrated use of evidence-informed teaching practices and effective classroom management strategies.
- Ability to integrate digital learning tools and differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs.
- Commitment to inclusive education, student wellbeing, and continuous professional learning.
