Coorong Apiaries Pty Ltd (trading as Coorong Apiaries) is an established apiary operation located in Meningie, SA. The business specializes in managing bee colonies, harvesting high-quality honey and hive products, and maintaining sustainable agricultural practices while strictly complying with local environmental and safety regulations.
Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Beekeeper to join our team on a full-time basis to oversee the care and maintenance of our bee colonies. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
· Inspect beehives regularly to monitor colony health and productivity
· Identify and address diseases, parasites, and other hive issues
· Manage hive population through techniques such as splitting and requeening
· Harvest and process honey, beeswax, and other hive products
· Keep detailed records of hive conditions, treatments, and yields
· Maintain and repair beekeeping equipment
· Ensure all activities comply with local agricultural and safety regulations
· Support educational or outreach events when needed
About You To be successful in obtaining this role, you will have:
· Previous experience in beekeeping or a related field
· Knowledge of honeybee biology and seasonal hive management
· Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions
· Solid attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Physical ability to lift hives and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
· A valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
· Formal training or certification in apiculture or entomology
· Experience with sustainable beekeeping practices
· Familiarity with queen rearing and hive expansion techniques
Salary
If successful, you will be paid a base salary of ranging between $75,000 to $85,000 per annum.
