Dive In Swimming Academy is looking for motivated, reliable and enthusiastic people to join our Learn to Swim Assistant Teacher Pathway team.

You don’t need previous teaching experience to get started. We’re looking for people who enjoy working with children, are confident in the water and are genuinely interested in developing into qualified Learn to Swim Teachers.

You’ll begin by assisting experienced teachers in the water while completing Dive In’s practical mentoring and training pathway. As your skills develop, you’ll gradually take on more responsibility and progress towards confidently teaching your own classes.

If you haven’t already completed an approved Learn to Swim Teacher course, you’ll be expected to independently complete the required external qualification as part of your progression toward becoming a Learn to Swim Teacher.

This is a learn to swim teacher development position, not an ongoing assistant teacher role.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced teachers, you’ll start off by actively supporting lessons while learning Dive In’s lesson structure, teaching progressions and approach.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting safe, structured and engaging Learn to Swim lessons

- Actively engaging swimmers and helping maintain class flow

- Encouraging children and building their confidence in the water

- Supporting skill development through basic guidance and corrections

- Learning Dive In lesson plans and teaching progressions

- Assisting with lesson equipment and class organisation





- Celebrating swimmer progress and creating positive experiences for families

- Working closely with Teachers, Pool Deck and Reception team

- Receiving coaching and applying feedback to develop your teaching skills

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

- A genuine desire and commitment to become a Learn to Swim Teacher

- Confident and protected swimming ability

- An interest in aquatics and working with children

- A basic understanding of swimming strokes and technique is desirable, but not essential

- Current Working With Children Check

- Current CPR certification, or willingness to obtain

- Completion of an approved Learn To Swim Teacher course, or commitment to independently completing the required external qualification

- Reliability and commitment to agreed rostered shifts

- A willingness to learn, receive feedback and develop new skills

- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

This role may suit year 12 or university students, school leavers, ex-swimmers, parents or carers looking for work around family commitments, or anyone wanting flexible, meaningful work while building a future in Learn to Swim teaching.

Availability

Available shifts may include:

- Weekday mornings: approximately 9:00am–12:00pm

- Weekday afternoons: approximately 3:30pm–6:30pm

- Saturdays: approximately 7:30am–12:00pm

- Sundays: approximately 8:00am–11:00am

All shifts are offered according to operational needs, staff availability and rostering requirements.
