The QCCS Mackay Cutters are seeking an outstanding communicator and relationship builder to join our team as Wellbeing & Community Manager.

n

This is a unique role combining two important areas of our organisation - supporting the wellbeing and personal development of our players and using the influence of the Mackay Cutters to make a positive difference throughout our community.

n

We're looking for someone who can walk into a classroom and genuinely engage a group of school-aged students, then later sit down with a senior rugby league player and have a trusted one-on-one conversation about their wellbeing, employment, education or life outside football.

n

The Role

n

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Wellbeing & Community Manager will lead the Club's player wellbeing, education and community programs.

n

The role has two key areas of responsibility.

n

You'll work closely with players across the Club, with particular focus on our Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership squads.

n

You'll be responsible for:

n

n
- Building genuine and trusted relationships with players.
n
- Maintaining regular and proactive wellbeing engagement.
n
- Supporting players through personal, employment, education and life challenges.
n
- Helping players develop opportunities and interests outside rugby league.
n
- Connecting players with employment, education and training opportunities.
n
- Recognising when specialist professional support is required and helping players access appropriate services.
n
- Working collaboratively with coaches and football staff while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.

This is not a clinical counselling position.



It's about relationships, communication, early support and connecting people with the right assistance when they need it.

Community Engagement

n

You'll also be one of the faces of the Mackay Cutters throughout our region.

n

You'll lead and actively deliver programs including Cutters Care, school engagement activities and other community initiatives throughout the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions.

n

You'll be responsible for:

n

n
- Delivering engaging and interactive programs to primary and secondary school students.
n
- Building strong relationships with schools and community organisations.
n
- Coordinating and supporting players involved in community activities.
n
- Delivering funded community programs and partnership commitments.
n
- Working with community partners and stakeholders.
n
- Monitoring program outcomes and completing required reporting.
n
- Helping us continually improve and expand the impact of our community programs.
n

Regular regional travel and some work outside normal business hours will form part of the role.

n

About You

n

We're less interested in finding someone from one particular professional background and more interested in finding the right person.

n

You may come from education, youth development, community services, sport development, player welfare, wellbeing or a similar field.

n

What matters is that you can connect with people.

n

You'll ideally bring:

n

n
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
n
- Confidence presenting and facilitating programs for school-aged young people.
n




- Demonstrated experience supporting the wellbeing, personal development or pastoral needs of young adults.
n
- The ability to build genuine, trusted relationships.
n
- Empathy, emotional intelligence and sound judgement.
n
- An understanding of professional boundaries and when specialist support is required.
n
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
n
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of outcomes.
n
- The ability to work collaboratively within a sporting environment.
n
- Strong written communication and reporting skills.
n

n

Relevant qualifications in education, youth development, community services, sport development, wellbeing or a related field will be highly regarded.

n

Experience within rugby league or professional/semi-professional sport would be advantageous but is not essential.

n

Applicants will require a current driver's licence and must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
