Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Plant Fitter – NDD, Jetting & Civil Fleet | Melbourne

Senior hands-on role on a specialized fleet, working alongside our current mechanic. Full-time, immediate start.

ASG is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter to join our growing civil and industrial operations. You'll be supporting and working as a team with our current mechanic across a mixed fleet of civil plant and heavy vehicles, sharing the workload as the fleet grows. This is a senior role suited to someone who can run their own day and doesn't need to be told what to fix.

This is not an apprentice or junior position.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and servicing of a diverse fleet including:

- High-pressure water jetting trucks
- Heavy rigid and combination trucks
- Excavators and civil plant
- Pumps (vacuum systems, water pumps, jetting systems)
- Supporting equipment and attachments

Work will include preventative maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding, and compliance servicing, both in-yard and on site as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
- Service and maintain heavy vehicles and civil plant
- Work on vacuum systems, jetting units and water pumps
- Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs




- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Identify defects and proactively prevent failures
- Work with our current mechanic to plan and share the fleet workload
- Liaise with operations and supervisors as required
- Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Plant Fitter
- Demonstrated experience working on civil plant, trucks and specialised equipment
- Strong experience with vacuum trucks, jetting units and pumps (essential)
- Ability to manage your own workload and work as part of a two-person mechanical team
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- A practical, solution-focused mindset
- High attention to safety and quality

Qualifications & Tickets

- Trade qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Plant Fitter
- Valid driver's licence (HR or higher preferred)
- White Card
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
