Field Technician - Exploration
Join a newly established exploration team supporting one of Australia's most exciting emerging mining developments.
This is a rare opportunity to secure a long-term FIFO role on 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster from Adelaide, supporting a newly established mining operation entering a significant growth phase.
You'll be part of a close-knit field team working 12-hour shifts in a modern exploration environment supported by experienced leaders, strong safety standards, brand-new camp accommodation and a genuinely positive site culture.
The project offers the opportunity to join a growing operation from the early stages and contribute to a long-term mineral development with a substantial future ahead.
We are specifically seeking candidates with previous exploration field experience and practical exposure to RC and/or diamond drilling programs.
Candidates who have worked alongside exploration geologists, drill crews and sampling teams in remote environments will be highly regarded.
To be successful, you will bring previous exploration field experience and a proven ability to work safely and effectively within active drilling programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the exploration team, you will provide practical support across a range of exploration and drilling activities, including:
- Supporting active RC and diamond drilling programs
- Sample collection, preparation and dispatch to laboratories
- Core processing including orientation, cutting and sampling
- Drill pad preparation and drill site mark-ups
- Geological data collection and record keeping
- Contractor liaison and field logistics support
- Vehicle, equipment and infrastructure inspections
- Inventory control and consumables management
- Environmental and rehabilitation activities as required
- Assisting with drill program planning and execution
- Maintaining safe work practices and contributing to a positive team culture.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Field Technician, Field Assistant or similar exploration support position
- Practical experience supporting RC and/or diamond drilling programs
- Experience working within remote exploration or mining environments
- Strong understanding of field safety procedures and risk management practices
- Experience collecting, handling and managing geological samples
- Ability to work effectively within small field teams and remote locations
- Good physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging environmental conditions
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection
Highly regarded:
- HR Driver's Licence
- Forklift Licence
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience with geological sampling and core processing activities
- Exposure to exploration databases and Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience supporting resource development or brownfields/greenfields exploration programs
