Role: Financial Data Analyst

Location: Toorak, Melbourne

Work arrangement: Full-time, office-based; Australian work rights required and sponsorship is not available

Compensation: $80,000-110,000 + Super

You'll join a fast-growing international fintech that provides adaptable funding to SMEs, with operations spanning Australia, APAC and Europe. The business has funded more than $5B in loans and is continuing to scale.

What You'll Do

- Build, maintain and improve Python tools and scripts used for large finance datasets, reconciliations, validation and exception reporting
- Use Python and SQL to extract, transform, join, validate and analyse financial and operational data from multiple sources
- Automate finance and reconciliation processes while keeping strong controls, auditability and clear documentation in place
- Investigate reconciliation breaks and data issues to find the root cause across accounting treatment, source data, systems and operations
- Prepare and improve reconciliations across loan books, repayments, bank or payment data, and other balance-sheet or operational accounts
- Support Power BI reporting, month-end work and transactional accounting when needed — this is a hands-on accounting and data role, not a pure FP&A; seat

Who We're Looking For

This role will suit you if you're comfortable moving between Python work, detailed reconciliations and day-to-day finance support.

Must-haves:

- Strong hands-on Python and pandas capability, including writing, debugging and maintaining scripts used for reconciliation, validation and finance process improvement
- Strong SQL skills for querying, joining, transforming and validating large datasets from multiple sources
- Practical Power BI experience, including supporting reporting outputs with reconciled and reliable underlying data
- Solid accounting and reconciliation experience,



with the ability to investigate differences to root cause rather than just report variances
- Mid-level experience in a hands-on individual contributor role where you've independently owned reconciliations, data investigations and script support, while staying willing to help with month-end and transactional accounting work

Nice-To-Haves:

- Git or other version-control experience
- Experience in lending, payments or another high-volume transaction environment
- Exposure to loan-book, repayment, bank or payment-data reconciliations
- A background in growing finance environments where accounting, operational and system data need to be cross-checked regularly
