An early-stage hardware technology company building out its Melbourne production capability is looking for a Process and Test Technician to help turn development processes into reliable, repeatable production. This role sits between the bench and process engineering.

You’ll assemble, calibrate and test units, run and refine the automated equipment behind each process, and use basic scripting to collect and analyse test data. Just as importantly, you’ll document process settings, track down sources of variation, and work with the engineering team to trial and validate improvements so results stay consistent from one customer order to the next.

It’s a good fit for someone who wants to understand why a process behaves the way it does, is comfortable moving between hardware, software and data in the same day, and enjoys working in a growing business where procedures are still being written rather than handed over complete.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, wire and package units to documented standards, and calibrate, align and tune them before release

Requirement

Trade qualification, diploma or degree in electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering or a related discipline

Hands‑on hardware skills — wiring, crimping, soldering — plus experience calibrating and testing equipment with measurement instruments

Experience with automated or computer‑controlled equipment, including setup, adjustment and troubleshooting

A process improvement mindset, with experience developing or optimising processes in a production, test or lab setting

Clear communicator, comfortable working closely with engineers

Desirable

Background in mechatronics, automation or electromechanical production

Working knowledge of Python or C# for test scripts or automation

Experience with optoelectronic components or modules in a lab or small‑batch setting
