About the role

Join Groundswell Engineers as a Flood Engineer to manage a variety of flood studies, floodplain risk management assessments and flood impact assessments across land development, built form and road network projects. You will help clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, with genuine ownership of technically complex, high-impact projects backed by a supportive and collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the preparation of flood studies, flood impact assessments and floodplain risk management studies across land development, built form and road network projects

- Lead the design package of flooding elements on urban renewal and rezoning projects, building and running hydrologic and hydraulic models to support them

- Liaise directly with councils, regulatory authorities and clients on flood-related planning matters and local regulatory frameworks

- Be actively involved in the design of stormwater management and civil engineering projects to upskill and improve holistic engineering skills

- Prepare clear, defensible technical reports and provide expert input into wider project teams

- Mentor junior engineers and help grow flood engineering capability across the business

About you

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering (or equivalent)





- Demonstrated experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modelling (e.g. TUFLOW, DRAINS) and QGIS software

- Working knowledge of the NSW Floodplain Development Manual and Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR 2019) guidelines

- Chartered status (CPEng) or progressing towards it

- Strong technical report writing skills and confidence presenting to councils and clients
- A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset and genuine interest in mentoring junior engineers
