We’re currently growing the teams across our two sister venues in Winthrop — Stanley in Central, our neighbourhood bistro and specialty coffee venue, and Winthrop Hawker’s Café, our busy Asian restaurant.

Both venues have their own style of food and service, but share the same focus on genuine hospitality, teamwork and providing customers with a great dining experience.

We’re currently recruiting for the following positions.

STANLEY IN CENTRAL

FOH Team Member / Barista / Floor Supervisor

Stanley in Central is a neighbourhood bistro and café in Winthrop, serving specialty coffee, thoughtfully prepared food with international influences, and a curated selection of wine and drinks.

Our FOH team works across the full dining experience — from making specialty coffee and taking orders to serving food from the kitchen, explaining our menu, recommending dishes and drinks, and looking after customers throughout their visit.

Barista skills are essential, but this is not a coffee-only position. We’re looking for people who are equally comfortable behind the coffee machine and on the restaurant floor.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Providing warm and attentive table service

- Taking orders accurately and communicating with the kitchen

- Preparing consistent espresso-based coffee and other beverages

- Serving food from the kitchen promptly and professionally

- Learning our menu, ingredients and specials

- Explaining dishes and confidently recommending food and drinks

- Serving wine and alcoholic beverages responsibly

- Operating POS and processing EFTPOS and cash payments

- Clearing and resetting tables

- Working closely with the kitchen and FOH team during busy service

What We’re Looking For

- Previous FOH experience in a café, bistro or restaurant

- Strong barista skills are essential

- Strong table service and customer service skills

- Confidence discussing food and recommending menu items
- An interest in food, specialty coffee and beverages

- POS and payment-handling experience

- Current RSA

- Good communication and teamwork

- Ability to multitask and remain calm during busy service

- Reliable and hands-on attitude

Applying as a Floor Supervisor?





You’ll also need previous FOH leadership experience and confidence managing the coffee station.

You’ll help lead service while remaining actively involved on the floor, manage espresso dial-in, coffee quality and workflow, coordinate with the kitchen, monitor the overall customer experience, and support and train the FOH team.

This is a hands-on supervisory role — you’ll work alongside the team throughout service.

WINTHROP HAWKER’S CAFE

FOH Team Member / Supervisor

Winthrop Hawker’s Cafe is a busy Asian restaurant in Winthrop, serving a wide range of Asian dishes in a fast-paced, casual dining environment.

Our FOH team works across the counter and restaurant floor, taking orders, processing payments, preparing drinks, serving food and coordinating closely with the kitchen to keep service running smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Greeting and assisting customers

- Taking dine-in and takeaway orders accurately

- Taking counter orders and entering them into the POS system

- Processing EFTPOS and cash payments

- Preparing and serving drinks

- Serving food from the kitchen

- Assisting customers with menu enquiries

- Coordinating dine-in, takeaway and delivery orders

- Managing Uber Eats and other delivery orders as required

- Clearing and resetting tables

- Communicating closely with the kitchen

- Keeping the counter, service and dining areas clean and organised

What We’re Looking For

- Previous FOH experience in a restaurant or café is required

- Ability to confidently take customer orders in Cantonese or Mandarin is required

- Counter order-taking and cashier experience highly desirable

- POS, EFTPOS and cash-handling experience highly desirable

- Confidence preparing and serving drinks

- Good customer service and communication skills

- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy setting

- Reliable, organised and a good team player

RSA and barista skills are not required for this role.

Applying as a FOH Supervisor?





You’ll also need previous supervisory or team leadership experience.

You’ll help lead service while remaining actively involved in daily operations, oversee counter and cashier operations, coordinate FOH with the kitchen, manage dine-in, takeaway and delivery orders, support the team and handle customer enquiries professionally.

This is also a hands-on supervisory role — you’ll take orders, process payments, prepare drinks and assist customers alongside the team when required.

STANLEY IN CENTRAL

Kitchen Hand

We’re also looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand to join the kitchen team at Stanley in Central.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Washing dishes, cookware and kitchen equipment

- Keeping the kitchen and wash-up areas clean and organised

- Assisting with basic food preparation when required

- Supporting the kitchen team during service

- Cleaning benches, equipment, floors and work areas

- Assisting with deliveries and storage

- Following food safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures

What We’re Looking For

Previous kitchen experience is helpful, but we’re particularly looking for someone who is:

- Reliable and punctual

- Hardworking and willing to help

- Comfortable working in a busy kitchen

- Efficient, clean and organised

- Able to follow instructions
- A good team player

- Committed to food safety and hygiene
