Argyle House Camden is looking for a reliable, hardworking and practical Kitchen Hand & Maintenance All-Rounder to join our team full-time.

This is not just a dishwashing position.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on and can move between supporting our kitchen team and taking care of general maintenance, cleaning, repairs and upkeep around the venue.

Argyle House is a busy premium restaurant and functions venue, so we need somebody who takes pride in keeping the entire property clean, organised, safe and operating properly.

THE ROLE

Your week will include a combination of kitchen hand duties and general maintenance work throughout the venue.

Kitchen duties include

- Dishwashing and operating commercial dishwashing equipment
- Keeping the kitchen, scullery and back-of-house areas exceptionally clean
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation when required
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, floors, walls, cool rooms and storage areas
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Waste removal and bin management
- Maintaining excellent hygiene and food-safety standards
- Helping the kitchen team during busy services
- General cleaning and organisation

Maintenance & all-rounder duties include:
- General preventative maintenance throughout the venue
- Minor repairs to doors, locks, hinges, fixtures and fittings
- Basic painting, patching and touch-up work
- Furniture repairs and assembly
- Minor plumbing-type maintenance such as blocked drains, leaking taps and replacing fittings where appropriate
- Cleaning and maintaining drains, filters and equipment
- Identifying maintenance problems before they become major issues
- Keeping storage, loading and service areas organised
- Pressure cleaning and external venue upkeep where required
- Assisting with moving equipment, furniture and function setups
- Liaising with qualified tradespeople when specialist or licensed work is required




- General troubleshooting and practical jobs around the property

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR We want someone who is genuinely an all-rounder.

You should be

- Experienced in kitchen hand, cleaning, maintenance, handyman or similar work
- Practical and confident using basic hand and power tools
- Able to identify and solve small maintenance problems
- Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work independently without needing constant supervision
- Happy to help wherever you’re needed
- Comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment
- Proud of keeping a venue clean and well maintained
- Available for a full-time roster, including evenings and weekends

Previous experience in restaurants, hotels, pubs, commercial kitchens, property maintenance or facilities maintenance would be highly regarded. A driver’s licence and previous maintenance/handyman experience will be looked upon favourably.

You do not need to be a qualified tradesperson, but you must have genuine practical maintenance experience and know when a job needs to be referred to a licensed trade.
